Sadly, I think the dealers have basically added 30% to what they are asking for used BEV and pocketing all the federal incentive. That car should be right at $4k before incentive if you ask me.
One other thing to consider is if the incentive even does anything for you. It didn’t for me so I didn’t bother wit it. I understand the rules have changed.

I’m going to look at it today and possibly drive away with it. I was already looking about a battery swap on Copart. Is there a way to find out what battery it has?

The asking price is $5,995 but then having the EV rebate of 30% takes off $1,799 bringing the total to $4,196 before taxes. At that price do you think it’s worth it or is it better to hold out for another one? I do need a car quickly but I also don’t want to just jump into a money pit either.
If you expect to want to do a battery upgrade, then unless you can take on the project yourself similar to how I did it, you're better off spending another 5-7k for a 40kwh Leaf.

I will take it on myself. I have watched many videos and it seems pretty straightforward

You mean is it Nissan or a recell? If you’re wondering if the battery has ever been worked on I would look at the retention bolts. If they’ve never been touched it’s never been worked on

you can do 40kwh without mechanical modifications.
You'll need to add a CAN bridge.
For 62kwh you'll have to add spacers, drill some holes and beef up the suspension.
If I got a 40 in good condition- what would I get for range approx?

There’s supposed to be a recell using a new battery that is lighter so if you do it you can avoid the suspension work. Still need the CAN bus though.

So you'd get a 62kwh pack and recell it..? That's crazy. Recelling with higher capacity cells doesn't work well with the BMS.

No.. a recell on a 40 and turn it into a 62 that weighs what a 40 does because the new cells are both lighter and more powerful so you can avoid the suspension work…or something. It needs a new CANbus because it’s bigger than the original pack. BMS too likely. I’m not sure how it works. I was asking and someone mentioned the thing. It’s possible I misunderstood.
