I took a trip to Picacho Peak to try out the new Quick Charger. There are two L2 chargers and one QuickCharger.
I don't know if you can call it L3, as it is going at a much slower rate than the Blink QC units. My GID meter reading around half-way through the charge read about 14kW charging rate, which seems to be what I read in another article about the unit.
Here are some pictures to give a little more information:
The unit is outside the Picacho Peak Plaza gas station/party store/souvenir store:

Using the Unit:
--------------
The unit supports two connectors, but only the right one, the Chademo connector, is working according to the station attendent. From what I read the left connector is the new SAE combo connector. I had to go inside to request they unlock the unit. He told me that I was the first one to use the unit since their big grand opening ceremony last week.
I followed the touch screen prompts, but the unit reported a fault right away. There is a curious red knob (with a yellow ring) that might be some sort of 'reset', but it didn't do anything that I could tell of. The attendant had to come back out, open up the unit and do a reset of the unit. The screen reported that it was doing a 'safety check', then fans started up and I was charging.
The on-screen display reported that it would take an hour to charge. I forgot to write down my starting Gid count, but I was at two bars. The Gid count ended at 180, which is just under my normal 184 Gid 80% SOC reading.
There was no charge for the use of the meter, probably temporary. It had a ChargePoint reader and logo on the unit, so that looks like how it will be paid for.
Getting There:
--------------
The trip from my house in Chandler was 55 miles, so I was hoping to make it there with a full 100% charge with my 2-bar-down Leaf, but I didn't. Coming up to Casa Grande, I only had 13 miles range and needed 23. In my experience, the GOM is pretty accurate after driving at least 5+ miles at the same speed. I drove 65 mph constantly (speed limit of 75), but my efficiency was pretty bad, at 3.1miles/kwh, because I was facing a 15mph headwind out of the SW and the outside temp was about 55 (dense air) and there were light rain sprinkles. I had the heater pretty low, set to 65, but it was pulling a little power, looked like 500W. I doubt I could have made up the gap by leaving the heater off.
The speed of 65 mph was quite a bit slower than much of the traffic, but it didn't feel unsafe. Because of the conditions, there were some cars in the right lane with me traveling at the same speed. And, the highway was always two lanes wide, and sometimes 3 lanes.
I ended up charging at Casa Grande for 1.5 hours on the way there. With that, I reached Picacho Peak with 2 bars remaining. I had to charge again at Casa Grande an hour on the way back. Efficiency for the return trip was about 3.8 miles/kwh.
