Hate to yet again point out the facts ... but a new smart fortwo coupe starts off at $12,490 and I've seen 2011's discounted down to $11,990 so what price premium are you talking about?
When did that happen? I could have sworn they were close to $20K the last time I checked...at that price it would make much more sense.

Person i know paid over $20,000 out the door. I helped her with some financing options. Her credit was bad so she did not get a good deal. Her payments are over $300 a month

Wow, I was surpised with all the replys ,thank you so much for all the info..

A wise man would stick with the Prius and not buy a dumb Smart car ;) There is something about the look of the Smart car ..It reminds me of a circus car where all the little clowns would climb out of it

If Im feeling dumb, I will get the Smart car and it will be the convertible..If I get a Prius Im thinking about a 2010...

Either car I buy will just be a back up car to the Leaf..I will hit 5000 miles this month... Thank You Mark

This was due to MBZ taking back the 'franchise' from Penske Automotive and no reflection on smart itself --...

Yeah, I'd heard about the above awhile ago from Autoblog.

Not to throw out FUD, but Smart sales have been doing very poorly in the US. See, for example:
