I would try to wait until the flood of 1500 comes alive.
That would be my preference, too. BUT, it seems that persistent efforts at contacting Nissan appear to be rewarded. Sitting idly by and "trusting in Nissan's system" has not seemed to be all that effective for many of us just yet. Nonetheless, I will probably hold off until tomorrow.

I'm going to be mildly shocked if Nissan pulls back ANY cars where the owner has a VIN number. Assigning the VIN means that a specific order has been associated with a car, and the crew at the port are busy installing the specific options that were requested, and the ground transport to get the car to the correct dealer is already being scheduled. Basically NO ONE in the chain is going to want to try and undo all that, figure what earlier order would fit the possibly already prepped car, reset what appears to be at least three different customer support databases (Carwings, the Leaf dashboard, and the owner's portal), plus tell a customer "just kidding on that VIN". It would take a very high-level exec who is willing to override a lot of lower level departments that will be pushing back HARD. Unless there is real danger of bad publicity, I expect they will placate those that they have to, and try to ride this out.

Of course, that may just be the cynic in me...

Someone who`s reservation was around 15,000 nationwide and had a January 25 or February order date has known all along that a gross mistake was made and should not be surprised when they are put back to the correct sequence. I had a January 7 order date with a projected delivery date of the end of April, at one time, that Nissan moved to May and is now pending. Much later reservations and order dates have now been allocated early or mid April deliveries. Where is the fairness and integrity? If this is not corrected and I loose out on the California rebate because of this unfairness,I am going to be very angry.

In that large of a shipment, most likely every car is not assigned to a person. Cars could be for demonstration, Nissan execs, etc. They should have a few to play with, if necessary.

Yippie! After escalating my concerns through Customer Service over my seemingly "lost" order, I now have a "week of April 14, 2011" delivery date, have activated Carwings, and appear to have a VIN. My case is perhaps anomalous, as anyone who has read my postings may know, but it shows that changes are coming, and I hope you all will be getting some happy news soon! :D
Happy for you, Tom! Must be quite a relief! Let's hope that things start moving for the rest of us as well in the next couple days...

It'll be interesting to see how this impacts my delivery. I am currently slated for week of April 29th. However, with an order date of 12/1/10 (November order month, with delays due to Ecotality not updating my dashboard), I am kind of at the "pivot" between the forgotten September/October orders and the unfairly pre-fulfilled January/February orders.

Either way, I hope to see a fair outcome for everybody. It's hard to imagine how this could have been so severely botched. One glance at the last 1/3 of the spreadsheet tells the whole story.

I hadn't heard back from Nissan about my "skipped" Leaf or its status so I went to the chat specialists today. Just for fyi, here is my transcript:

Ricco: Thank you for contacting Nissan LEAF Customer Support, my name is Ricco. How may I help you today Brent ?
Brent: Hi, can I get an email transcript of the chat? I didn't see an option for it.
Ricco: I can send you one if you'd Like.
Brent: Great, thanks. Now, I'd like to see if I can get some more information on where my Nissan Leaf is in the production/delivery process. I have inquired on two different occasions (one before the disaster in Japan and one after) but never received the promised contact back. Also, some other Leaf orders received emails telling them whether their LEaf order had been affected or not, but I did not receive an email. Can I please get some more information?
Ricco: You have a month of may delivery date, if this date changes we will notify you by E-mail, your order was not impacted by those events had it been impacted we would have notified you by E-mail .
Brent: Can you tell me if my vehicle has been produced yet? What would be the time frame for that?
Ricco: one moment
Ricco: We don't have visibility to that level of information, all we know is that it's scheduled for delivery in may.
Ricco: Any other questions?
Brent: No, no more questions. Thanks

Take it as you will-

Month - May

I've been "Month of April" since mid-February, only to drop to "Month of May" today. :(
I've just waited patiently, never bugged Nissan. Sounds like I've been pushed back by them trying to placate some of the"squeaky wheels"! I'm guessing my chance at the 5K rebate is slipping away. Very frustrating!!

Hmm, interesting...I had a 'month of May' last week and when I checked on Friday, it had changed to 'week of Apr. 29th' without any email notification. Since I reserved Apr. 20th and ordered Sept. 30th, Nissan still needs to correct this inequity and move my delivery date to the middle of Apr.

I'm still stuck on May. No changes/e-mails as of today. And, no reply to my CS e-mail last week. Just hope my LEAF is on its way with the 1500 others.

When was the last time you checked your dashboard? I suspect it's been on May for some time now like most of the other April in mid-Feb orders.

The farther you get away from Long Beach, the longer it takes to get the cars out. Be glad you don't live in WA where it seems to take 2-4 weeks longer for cars to start arriving compared to customers near Long Beach.

How so? I ordered 28 days before you did, and my delivery date is "week of April 14". Shouldn't I consider it an inequity if your date is moved to the middle of April?

I check my dashboard every day, drees. The only day I didn't check it was this past Sunday when I had no internet access while traveling. It has stayed at "month of April" until today or possibly yesterday.

You and I ordered on the same day from the same dealer, I am hoping they are in LA together waiting for a ride to Petaluma. And I am still a May on both my dashboard and on the dealers board too.

hmmmmm...Nissan is being way too quiet based on their past history. The Luna Spirit left Long Beach two days ago and there are no updates on delivery or new VIN's assigned (that we're aware of).

Anyone want to take me up on the following bet? Thursday morning, March 31st, around 8:15 AM Pacific Daylight Time, there will be a mass release of the 1500 VINs and delivery dates. (Although they also tend to do things on Tuesdays, I have noticed.)

Interesting. Either way - I wouldn't read too much into it until Nissan does their "mass reorganization". I would have expected that you'd be a late April delivery based on your order date - so if it has now shifted it perhaps means that cars are taking longer to process in port than expected.

OK, I admit it the closer it gets to the "linejumpers" (( no offense guys and gals lighten up )) getting cars the more upset I get. I cant figure out how Nissan could let this fester? I think that the reality of a 5K or 2.5K price increase due to a snafu is not right. I know I am not alone in this boat/dock but I just had to vent. Has anyone had any results from CS or the dealer?
