The heater in my 2011 (20k miles) Leaf stopped working, and without heat and defrosting the car is currently useless.
The workshop has come back with the diagnose "defect PTC heater" and "defect DC/DC converter".
With regards to the latter, it's specifically mentioned in warranty booklet under EV system, where warranty is 5 yrs/60k km.
When it comes to PTC heater, it seems this is a part which is very EV specific, but since not mentioned anywhere, I am interested to hear experiences/ knowledge from other Leaf owners, and what I'm in for.

Not sure about the 5/60k thing (other than power train).
If you did not buy an extended warranty, then your coverage should have run out after 3/36k.
This is the first I've heard of a heater failing later, as opposed to earlier (like in the first year or so).

It seems not only the PTC heater, but also the DC/DC converter is defect, and at the same time the onboard charger went dead.
Anyone know if there is a connection between the onboard charger and the DC/DC converter? (in other words if these faults are due to the same component)

There could be a connection, but they will start replacing what the "codes" tell them to replace. Not what you wanted to hear, but these are not good things to replace out of warranty.

could be as simple as a bad temperature sensor. The dealer had my car for a month replacing part after part and in the end it was just a temperature sensor gone bad. Apparently they did not write the trouble codes to go after this simple part first in the repair process.

DC/DC and onboard charger fall under the 5 year / 60,000 mile power train warranty.
Heater falls under the 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

The onboard charger and the DC/DC converter are different components on 2011-2012 LEAFs. The charger is behind the rear seat in the 'hump', and the DC/DC is centered under the hood just in front of the firewall. If all three died at the same time (DC/DC converter, heater, and charger), I would think the issue may be elsewhere and would likely be under the power train warranty.
