MY12 orders from Jul 25 in Tier 2, open to public on Aug 4

It is really disappointing. Hold a reservation for a long time, hang on through thick and thin, and in the end it seems it makes a vanishingly small difference. If-as-when you get a Leaf, you'll be just one among many, and no assurance that deliveries will be in the same sequence as orders...

    July 2011 Orders

Newspaper here in central NC said that Nissan said that anyone here can order a Leaf as of August 1. Those of us with reservations are July 25, plus or minus. So having a reservation seems to be worth about 6 days, at this time. That could make the delivery date earlier, but my sense is that...

    July 2011 Orders

Received today 7/20 here in central NC. The full text of the email from Nissan follows: " Hi xx, thanks for reserving and patiently waiting to order your 100% electric Nissan LEAF™. We're very excited to let you know you'll be able to order your new 2012 Nissan LEAF next week. So...

When will Tier 3 reservers finally see their LEAF?

Of course Tier 2 once was scheduled to order in December 2010, and it was into December 2010 when that time point was pushed back into "summer", which is what is now August or September. Maybe that's what will happen, or maybe there will be another shift. I am thinking another shift is...

Report about your may 1st reservation

Tier 2 states will get to buy the cars coming out of Tennessee as the nice but completely inexperienced people there try to learn how to build cars. These will be the cars with multiple defects at every level. Really, Nissan seems so dense I'm not at all sure they realize how discouraged many...

How do I take it home...Redwood City to Fresno

;) I love the spirit of adventure that flows through this thread. That said, it may be better to get the roll back, to get the car home without any stress, and to let the adventures start from home base.

LEAF's "gradual capacity loss NOT covered" battery warranty

At the Leaf demo in Raleigh the "technical" explainer implied that replacing older type battery modules with a newer type was not a given. He described the ability to do that as "an important goal." As we all know, usually one doesn't mix battery types in the same device, because mixed types...

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

Any little surprise was the 110v charger cable as demonstrated in Raleigh. The guide said it came with the car, and unfolded it for the group to see. It was a fairly bulky cable, with a 110V plug on one end, a long brick like box (a transformer, I suppose) about 2 feet from the 110V end, and...

Barrons' reporter runs Leaf flat in Manhattan

At the Nissan Leaf demo and drive event this weekend in Raleigh NC, Nissan's explainer and guide said repeatedly that the range was 100 miles or might be more. That range was explicit or implicit on a number of posters. So people there, and this reporter, are thinking in terms of 100 miles, not...

Consumer Reports: Volt 'doesn't really make a lot of sense

I am so often glad that Consumer's Reports does not get to decide which cars are sold. No one there seems to actually enjoy cars, or even to approve of enjoying cars. I imagine them to be a think-lipped grim-faced bunch. :P

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

None of the dozen or so Leafs used at the Raleigh demo had the noisemaker working. Gee what a relief. It was really impressive to watch the flock roll out of the lot so silently. When that changes, I can image that these cars will turn into real nuisances.

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

We were at the Nissan Leaf event in Raleigh early this morning. It was an event that went smoothly and well. They had a good system of flow from registration to explanation to driving to follow up. I found the car to look nice and drive well. Steering is light, and I like it that way. I...

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

We made an appointment to test drive early Friday in Raleigh. Since the time I made the appointment, I haven't heard a thing. Makes me wonder if the event is still on, or if they have any record. On the issue of "late summer" the weather in Tokyo is essentially identical to that in Raleigh...

    EV's Too Quiet ?!

The people who will write the final "EVs must be noisy" regulation are the group that brought us the "beep beep beep" made by trucks backing up --- a loud and obnoxious sound, one that unfortunately you quickly learn to entirely tune out.

Not being in initial 7 states ...

. As I live in a Tier 2 state, I'm as frustrated as anybody on how things have developed. Nonetheless, i can see that sticking to CA deliveries as long as there are pending orders is likely the most simple and most profitable course. It is an established channel and, importantly...

    Ford Focus EV

My guess is that Leaf will set the standard, as Leaf will be the first to accommodate quick charge with a substantial number of cars. Sure, the US will always try to be different, but official "standards" are often disregarded if they come forward after a de facto standard has been established...

    Tracking ships !

. It will probably take a few days, but not weeks. Trains follow a sequence of stations and the train is rebuilt at various intervals. While freight trains do have a sequence, the do not have a schedule. The railroad company does however know where every car is, all the time, and big shippers...

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

My guess is that Nissan's plan is to deliver to NC from the Tenn facility. Nissan will tell us how great that is, but I'm not too happy about it, because most car plants have a lot of problematic vehicles until the kinks get worked out.

    Anyone here from North Carolina?

Has anyone received anything on EVSE installation? Or, has anyone submitted the Nissan waiver form for the installation? (I'm negative on both.)
