The SPX charger looks like it is worth waiting for. I wrote to them a few weeks ago asking about availability to LEAF owners. They said while the Volt charger is restricted to those with a confirmed Volt order, the other chargers will be available to anyone in early 2011. I was told to keep an eye out for pricing and availability on the 32A unit in the next month or so.

Still keeping tabs on the Leviton unit - just in case.

Rumored to become available "soon", POSSIBLY before the middle of Q1 2011. Not definite.

Rumored price PROBABLY over Voltec and PROBABLY less than $1000. Nothing for sure.

But, in my mind, encouraging ranges, if it turns out to be correct!

I have some non-information on this unit. I wrote to SPX yesterday inquiring about pricing and availability of this unit and I got back the following: "Unfortunately, the unit is not available at this time, but expect that to change in late February. Updates to the units availability will be posted on http://www.homecharging.spx.com.

I did not say that I was or wasn't a Volt owner, so I'm a little concerned about the web site he sent me to. Currently that site has the same "*Only available to Volt owners" marked there for the 32A unit. I guess one can only hope that they will also be selling it at http://www.servicesolutions.spx.com. In theory we wouldn't even be able to order it through the phone line since the same phone number is listed at both sites.

The "SPX Charge Station" (just "240v" input, found via the 1st link) appears to be different than the "SPX Level 2 EVSE" (input between approx. 90v-to-250v, found via the 2nd link).

This thread was intended for the 2nd one.

I just got a call from SPX that the 32amp Power Express portable EVSE is now available to order. $745 + tax + shipping, and 60 day estimated delivery. Problem is I (you) can't order without a Volt VIN# ???

So if there’s a Volt in your garage, call now! Operators are standing by 877-805-3873

Did anybody get one of these yet?
Yes. Ordered today. They are not going to require the Volt VIN# to order. $750 + Tax + Shipping. 60 days to ship.

Called yesterday and they are still quoting 60 days to ship. If I had to guess I would say they are waiting to get a few orders before they do a production run. Wish they would hurry I've got a 14-50r on the wall waiting for this puppy. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and see how long shipping from Texas to California and back is for Ingineer's Rev 2 upgrade

So do the preship/swap option. There's no reason to bite your nails.

When we ship ground, It seems to usually take 3 or 4 days depending on where it is in TX. That means we usually get people's units back in their hands within 6-8 days. You can upgrade shipping either or both ways to next day, or do the advanced replacement option which adds $50, then you are never without a unit.

I didn't notice the advanced replacement option on the site so I thought it might no longer be available. Thanks for the good news, $50 is a small price to pay for the peace of mind. Should take delivery early next week so I hope to put my Rev2 order in before the 17th.

Just FYI: I would wait until you know for sure you are getting you car before you order, if you cannot return the EVSE in time, you forfeit your deposit.

I'm thinking of getting one of these. I think the official name is now Power Xpress and it retails for $750 + taxes and shipping. Has anyone received theirs yet? How satisfied are you with the EVSE?

I just put in my order this evening. Confirmation email shows an estimated ship date of 7/12/2011. Based on that unless it ships by boat from China I hope to have delivery within 30 days.
