I agree (and posted a similar thought in another thread) that Nissan would have been better off going with a non-negotiable msrp 3-4 k less than the current plus msrp. That would give them competitive advantage with the optics vs. the 3 SR+ and the Niro, the closest competitors. Most of us with the plus got the reduced price (-4K or -2k under invoice) as supply is much more plentiful then the Niro.
If the Plus S was 32k vs 36k for MSRP it would drive many more sales, even if the out the door price was the same.
