Ok, I know this in anecdotal, but on a usualy day I might see one other gen 2 Leaf. I have been seeing 3 - 4 nearly everyday now. Oddly, many of them the base S (the rims give it away). I wonder if these lease sales recently are starting to get some traction to the Leaf.

I don't really understand the over the top Tesla slant. The LEAF Plus is a GREAT deal right now. Unless you "need" 200 miles of range for your "daily" needs, we are talking about an EV that will cover your needs well beyond your desire to keep the car.

Prove me wrong.

What do you mean by "over the top Tesla slant"?

I don't blame you for asking that question because I wouldn't have gone back and read the previous 53 pages either but sadly... I "lived" thru those 53 pages.

Inside Evs posted a pretty nice Aryia video today. I really wasnt considering it, but maybe in a few years. I do hope the Leaf is allowed to continue in parallel. It's valuable to nissan to have multiple evs at the same time. I also hope they drop the msrp a few k as it would vastly improve sales.

Leaf down to €22,500 in parts of Europe.

I agree on the price comment. When the article stated the starting price for the short range single motor (Leaf like) version was $40K I realized Nissan was going to have to copy Tesla on more than just the price point.

In my case I have to add $10K to the price of any Tesla because I need FSD ASAP. My Leaf got totaled by ONE second. Had the 2006 Toyota v van had a working version of Auto Pilot the teenager would not have ran a very red RED light. Had our 2015 Leaf SL had self breaking my wife and daughter would not be in a world of pain this morning a week after the accident.

There are going to a lot of EVs coming on the market in 2 years we have been hearing for many years from many sources. The delay is costing human lives. I got started with Nissan in 1973 due their value. The coming sub $20K EVs many be interesting.

Both of our 2019s have the self braking (the S+ is just frontal, and the SV+ w/,propilot has additional side and rear sensors). Those sensors have already saved me from a couple accidents.

We purposely don't let our 2 teenagers use the propilot because they need to not rely on sensors in their first 5-10 years of driving experience.

The 2020 i guess is even better with the rear self braking and rear cross traffic.

Doug 7 days ago an 18 year old ran a red light that he reported not seeing. My wife and daughter are still suffering belts and airbag injury. I wish the other vehicle had had self stopping at red light. If our 2016 Leaf had had self braking that worked the accident could have been prevented.

How are you ok with withholding automotive safety solutions from your teenagers? How are you going to defend your teenagers in a wrongful death charge some day perhaps?

If I had the money I would have FSD vehicles for all of my family. Doug do you not grasp that the days of manually controlling vehicles are going away like manual transmissions?

AEB still works w/o pro pilot enabled. This should be a standard safety feature for all cars and for the LEAF 2018 and later, it is. Like "most" safety features, you can turn it off but its independent of Pro Pilot.

Dave, exactly right. The auto stopping is always on for my teenagers.

What I don't want is them becoming dependent on things like the blind spot warning light (which our SV+ has, but not our S+), because they will be likely driving cars which won't have those features and they need to have the process of looking over your shoulder as a sub conscious reflex.

FSD is still not prime time, but it is getting better. Inside evs chatted about it in their podcast a couple weeks ago. I guess in their 30 minutes test it drove over curbes and created some dangerous intersection dynamics a couple times. Imagine if you were just learning to drive and believed FSD was going to take care of it all, while you instagrammed or tic tocked. I agree with their sentiment that as a driver you should be required to go through training before using the feature. Waymo seems to be better in terms of how the expectation is set, even if its geography expansion is slower.

Not related, but a pretty positive follow up review on the Leaf Plus:

Nice video from Germany showing 3 consecutive DC sessions without rapidgate in moderate temperatures.

It looks like Shell is putting in 200 amp Chademos in Germany, which is great for the 3 thousand new Leaf owners there this year. Watch the excitement at 5 and 1/2 minutes when the car hits 70 kW charge speed.

I saw this in the paper this morning; Lexington MA town DPW replaced two cars with 2020 LEAFs.

Dave,

On the Facebook post of the used Tesla on the Nissan lot, 2 different Leafers have posted 173k miles and 250k miles. Whats the highest mile leaf out there?

Leaf is continuing to sell really well in Norway this month, only behind the ID3.
