Hi, How are you? My name is John Beard I am the Leaf Specialist @ Cerritos Nissan. I was speaking to my owner here about the meetings that are held. What I am trying to do, is touch base with all Leaf owners/ all blog members (family and friends included) that would be attending the Cerritos HTB meeting Feb 12th, and offer for the meeting to be held at our dealership. If interested I can ask for our owner to supply breakfast, complimentary car washes, and use of our charging stations. We would be honored and excited to host your meetings with no cost to the Blog members. Please fill free to contact myself anytime regarding your thoughts about this offer. I can be reached directly @ 562-450-7606

Sounds good to me. Though Gary is head LEAF wrangler round these parts, so I naturally defer to him.

If I can please have some input/suggestions of how we can accomadate everyones preference of food /beverages to make sure that everyone will enjoy. I understand Hometown buffet is a good option for the variety of beverages / food BUT not due to the quality of food lol. But offering a typical continental breakfast (bagels, eggs, proteins, fruit etc) ?

The status of this meeting is pending everyones input and willingness to attend. I will be having a meeting with our owner tomorrow morning to give some feedback and thoughts from everyone. I would like to be able to communicate everyones input and suggestions and likelyhood of attending. Thanks again everyone

If you can please give some input on the below thread for ideas and suggestions for meeting. I am meeting with our owner in the morning to give him a idea of people attending / food & beverages to accomadate everyone to see if its possible to set everything up

+1 but would like Gary to weigh in since he is our "branch manager". Breakfast items that you suggest sound good to me. Do I dare ask for some decent coffee?

LOL thats one thing I think I can make happen that won't break the budget.

I might be able to attend, but I don't think I can drive my Leaf. It's 68 miles one way from Oceanside (totally doable), but I don't think I can spare the 6+ hours charging at Cerritos Nissan L2 that my return trip will require!!!

I would be interested in a possible meet up. It would be cool to get many LEAF owners together and get a big group photo. I would be curious to hear what other people think about it. I will be out of town on the 12th... but I could come another later weekend. I could probably drive down with my LEAF as I am only about 35 miles away.

Well based on the charging capabilities you would need about 3 hrs of charging minimum to get home safely. From feedback on this forum some owners have received about 12.5 miles avg per charging hour with the level 2 system (100 miles / 8 hours = avg 12.5 per hour)

(100 range - 68 mile commute = 32 miles left, 3hrs of level 2 charging should result in about 37.5 additional miles totaling 69.5 for trip home.

I think you may be the farthest away, to where you can receive priority charging if you choose to attend. We have 3 on site level 2 chargers. Other Leaf owners with a shorter commute can possibly use the other 2 , or even use the trickle charge. I'm sure we can find a friendly way to make sure everyone gets home safely

Right - but to get 100 mi range on the highway he'll have to keep his speed around 55 mph...

I'm in. I think the offer of free charging could provide a bit more range to folks who are on the "range-edge". @prberg, I drove down from Glendale last week. R/T is no problem if you keep it 65-70. Maybe not for JimmyD though. John, how about some breakfast and an L3 charging station by Feb 12? Just ask the boss... "so, we need some bagels, some lox, cream cheese.. uh L3 station.. that's about it".

I stopped by Cerritos Nissan after the last Branch meeting and met John Beard. I graciously offered to test one of his two brand new AV L2 EVSEs with my LEAF and he accepted (maybe it was the other way around).
Anyway, John's quite knowledgeable about the LEAF but the one thing I've found most dealers really could use is a few LEAFs on their lot to point to when customers are around. I think meeting there could be a win-win and John's smart to come up with this offer. When I was there, he had a family that had just RAQ'd and brought them out to check out my LEAF. I showed them all the cool features and some of the options. Even offered to let them try their car-seat in the back.

Per Kataphn's suggestion.. good coffee; OJ, fruit, bagels and some kind of protein... lox, eggs, whatever, I'm set. I'd love it if your LEAF trained mechanic was around and wouldn't mind a few questions about battery packs, regen settings, SW updates, etc.

I think im going to definitely try to slip in the level 3 unit , we'll see how awake he is @ 8 am lol. But since the idea, i've had some feedback to have a service tech available for open discussion to help answer any and all questions regarding battery packs, updates etc. I hope it all works out. I have a good feeling about it, as long as we get some good feedback from the forum.

I talked to John and he seems to be both interested in learning from the forum and us, and in doing "something extra" that would help us, the EV movement, and the Cerritos Nissan dealership.

I have no problem with tying to have our Feb 12th Gathering there. Since others seem willing to try it, let's let John see what he can arrange.

If it falls through there, even at the last moment, our "Plan B" can still be HTB, with charging at Cerritos Nissan for those who have gone beyond the "point of no return".

Connell Nissan (south of 405 on Harbor) also has two (or 3?) AV EVSEs out front, if additional e-fuel is needed in the south-bound direction.

71 miles door-to-door from my driveway to Cerritos Nissan....if i had all day, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I work Saturday afternoon down by Mirimar, and unless I arrived at Cerritos Nissan at 7am to get a jump on charging for the return trip, I think it's outside the realm of physical possibility. But the free car wash....BOY is it tempting!!! ;)

Why 6.6kW L2 matters.

My Leaf is still in pieces in Japan, so if I come in my non-EV can I still get the free doughnuts and car wash???

I'll print out a life size picture of a Leaf for the group picture.
