Is the 2012 VSP Sound Different?

My '12 beeps in reverse and has no discernible sound in forward.

(Edit: Although I cannot hear the forward sound while inside the car, I got my daughter to drive by me while I stood on the side of the street and heard a soft swooshing sound.)

My 2012 sounds like this:
Nissan Leaf VSP - Short Version - Approach and Reverse Sounds

At least I think it does. It's kind of hard to hear from inside the car.

Yup, that's what my 2011 sounds like.

My 2012 sort of sounds like this, but it's not as smooth. It seems to have different frequencies depending on the speed that step up rather than smoothly ramp up. I'm not sure what the chirp is in the video manual that Nissan released, but mine doesn't sound like that at all.

EDIT: After further testing, it looks like the frequency of the sound is stepped up every .5MPH.

I don't notice the forward sound in my 2012, backup is a standard truck like beep.

Be careful about complaining, you could end up with this:
