    Charging at SFO

    Awesome. Thanks for the info.

    Charging at SFO

I live about 40 miles from SFO, just a little too far to make it there and back on one charge. For those that have used one of the electrical outlets in long term parking, should I be concerned about finding an available outlet? My return flight gets back at 10 PM and I really don't relish the...

Lamo Leaf driver doing 50 mph in 2nd lane in heavy traffic

Perhaps I should point a camera out my back window when I am driving 30 in a 25. You would see people tailgating and weaving back and forth as we approached a red light. I'll bet for every slow Leaf, there are at least 10 people who are impatient when you only exceed the speed limit by a little bit.

It started in Oregon, can the rest of us be far behind?

That makes me think of the California Missions. All a day's ride apart.

What is your policy on test drives?

No sarrusophones, Eb or otherwise. I do have a double-bell euphonium though. But my main horn is a Miraphone 191. Unfortunately the big tuba does not fit in the Leaf's trunk. I have to put the seats down or set it in the back seat. Dave

What is your policy on test drives?

I let my nephew, who only had a learner's permit in another state, drive it. He was careful and I think it made is day to think that I trusted him with the car. Letting someone else touch my tuba is an entirely different thing. The rule in the house is that nothing gets set on top of it and...

    Huge rattle from center dashboard

A rattle has developed for me as well. If I tilt the lcd display to the horizontal position, it goes away. Its intermittent and I don't want to take it in if I can't reproduce it reliably. Does anyone have any experience with how the dealer will handle something like this? Thanks.

    Who owns these cars?

Strangely enough I too owned a 1990 240SX (I think that makes 3 of us with that exact year and model if I counted correctly). It was great fun. The Leaf is fun in its own way. Breezing by others in the carpool lane, the high-torque rush from a stop, and the excitement of wondering if I'm going...

    Consumer Reports Leaf Blog

Check out: http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/11/driving-the-nissan-leaf-hurray-for-traffic-1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Why would anyone **not** plug in their Leaf when they got home at night? Then she complains about the charge running out too quickly the...

Leaf got laughed at last night

For a bit of a reality check, I looked up Road & Track's test results. They clocked the Leaf at 6.7 seconds 0-50 which is 0.3 slower than the Volt :( and... slower than just about everything else that they tested except the Smart car, the Civic Hybrid, and the CRV. That said, I have noticed...

Simple Idea: Light inside charger port

What a great idea. FYI, my 97 Chevy van has a light under the hood (similar feature). It also has a built-in step on the bumper so that you can wash the windshield. I wonder if some creative person could rig a switch that opened when the hatch for the charging port opened.

Nissan should make a deal with Enterprise car rental

There are times when I will need to travel beyond the range of my Leaf. It would be great if there was a deal with Enterprise where: 1. There was a guaranteed rate even for last minute rentals 2. Enterprise had a place (even 110) where the Leaf could be charged 3. Enterprise rental locations...

Places to charge in San Francisco

Ray, Thanks for the suggestion. I had not thought of a padlock. I think just making the charging cable difficult to take would be enough to secure it. Dave

Places to charge in San Francisco

Has anyone tried charging at the San Francisco Airport? I have a 4 day trip coming up, but there is no way that I can make it from home to the airport and back without charging. Anyone have a feel for whether or not I would be able to get a parking spot near one of the outlets? Would you feel...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

We picked up our Leaf yesterday. So far we're really enjoying it. Its been quite a while since looked for an excuse to drive somewhere. And, the difference between the Leaf and my 11 year old Subaru is pronounced to say the least. The Subie has been a great car, but getting in, looking over the...

Put some air in those tires!

Some anecdotal evidence on the effect of tire pressure: We have a camper-van that we use for vacations. I purchased new tires for it and for some insane reason, they pumped up the tires the the maximum pressure on the sidewall. I should have checked the pressures myself, but I was in a hurry to...
