The whole problem is that oil is priced too low. Tom Friedman from the NY Times has been saying that for years. And the reason oil is priced so low is that the country lacks the political to price oil appropriately. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . snip . . . .
Our county lacks political what? Maybe you meant political strength? Turns on which side one thinks of. The power industry has tons of political strength. People are to apathetic, so due to that, voters have no political clout/strength/balls/whatever you want to call it. Once again, we will ALL vote Republican/Democrat ... and the party sponsors that they are beholding to will expect the piper to be paid ... and they (meaning the industrial military supply complex, and its twin sister the industrial power complex) will be paid by continuing to strengthen their power base ... and status quo will continue. Welcome to our brave new world.

I'm sorry but those guys put me to sleep in the first two minutes. That had to be the most BORING thing I have seen in awhile. Guess I'll have to wait for the movie to come out.

You don't need to use derogatory labels. I am right-leaning, yet like many other Californians with my beliefs, I also tend to favor "green" policies. We can respectfully disagree on certain other issues. With the right attitude, friendships can exist across the political spectrum.

Also, I agree with those who have suggested that ZEV mandates are mostly a waste of time. Better would be to focus on deploying more public charging infrastructure.

no need to take offense. there are conservadumbs and conservatives.
if the shoe doesnt fit you, dont wear it.
But it fits all sorts of folks, their pundits and their TPs. Just turn on talk radio or watch the cable news for a few days.
conservadumbells predominate.

Conservadumbs.... I love it

Repuglicans is my favorite.

I often wonder just where the intelligent, grounded, conservatives
have left to go for representation?

Stepping out of this guys home theater basement for a second.

It is no secret who killed the EV1. The people who built it, GM. Oil certainly paid them off to kill BEV's and looking at the Volt, not much has changed. GM is still a very weak automaker and deeply entwined with Oil shareholders who want to see their product consumed as quickly as possible at ever increasing prices. The above basement dweller and his ilk can be at war with reality all they want. It does not change the fact that the LEAF is a huge success and MANY thousands more are coming. Fresh out of the gate and EV's are already racking up hundreds of thousands of miles each month. This is not a belief, it is a fact, it is reality! Let them gripe all they want. It's their problem not ours.

So, who is (still) trying to kill the electric car? The usual suspects and to be expected. But this time they don't run the companies that are making BEV's and public awareness of EV's is at an all time high. Combine this with Americas general hatred of Oil companies and the geinee is out of the bottle. Now the only question is how soon will our three wishes be granted?

Well said!

I find this highly offensive and ignorant.
Just so everyone knows, he sent me a couple of PM's that he would post such a message because I didn't remove the pic of DUMBFUCKISTAN as he requested. What do you think the chances are that I would would actually take it down after such a threat?

I hate to be a party pooper, but in other forums I've been in, it's been forbidden in the TOS to post a heavily politically charged thing like this. As funny as it is to some people, it often quickly becomes emotionally polarized and detracts from the primary purpose of the forum. I would like to think the Leaf could appeal to folks on both sides of the isle and hopefully everyone is welcome here.

HE IS RIGHT. **** Is tan or dumb **** is tan is offensive. I wish you would take it out of a Nissan Leaf advocacy forum and off to the adult porn site where they appreciate such language.
If I may indulge my snarky side for a moment: How do you even get out of bed in the morning if an f-bomb upsets you this much? Surely the volume of obscenities one faces in any given day would crush your soul if you're that thin-skinned. It might not be appropriate for this section of the forum, but it's hardly worth getting bent out of shape over. :|

Now back to the topic at hand... *rolls up sleeves*

Re: The video.

That was actually painful to watch. Unfortunately not much to say since they have nothing but strawmen and tired old talking points - so much so that you could easily have convinced me it was recorded two decades ago. I will have to say the irony of the four-eyes in the bad shirt saying "somebody has to pay down the road" when it's pretty clear that's much more true of gasoline than electricity.

Then they play the "freedom of choice" card. Here's what freedom of choice looks like:

There's a city in there somewhere, guys. There are limits to "freedom of choice" - my freedom to swing my fists around in the air stops at your face, and your freedom to idle your Hummer 24/7 stops at my lungs. Deal with it. The best part is nobody is really saying (yet) that you can't buy a three ton diesel burning penis extension to do your grocery shopping, but society is under no obligation to make it affordable or convenient to do so when there is obvious harm done in the process.

Yes, it's called courtesy. I thought you'd appreciate a private head's up. Instead, I didn't even get a actual reply, just a juvenile "please take me off your PM list". Since you were clear that you weren't taking PMs, I made it public.
